So, I wandered around the hill again. I went on a mission to submit a change-of-address form, but I ended up doing some other things as well. I ran into the guy I saw at Dick's the other night. I asked him when he's heading back to California. He said he should be back there by May. I think he said his name was Josh. I'm kinda' worried about him. He doesn't seem too motivated.

Note to self: Look for an OGG encoder.

I also ran across a guy who was playing chello. I bought a CD from him. He is very good. I asked him if he would mind if I posted his music on the internet and his immediate response was paranoia and saying that he needs a team of lawyers to keep track of his copyright. I don't think he knows much about intellectual property. I asked him what would be wrong with people getting his music. He couldn't come up with an answer. He then told me that he wanted me to post his music. He said he wanted the album to be called Cochlea. He also asked me to name the tracks "movements." er.. I don't think that was the word. But perhaps it was. Unless I remember otherwise, I'll call the tracks "movement n." He also said that he recently broke up with his girlfriend, who wanted him to get a "job." He said it with such scorn. He said that he was a simple musician and that he didn't fit into that world. He called his girlfriend a princess who just wanted tile floors.

I ran across the guy that Hannah affectionately refers to as our neighborhood junkie. I asked him what his name was yesterday and he told me, but I've forgotten. This is the same guy I gave a slice of pizza to the other night. I saw him yesterday and offered to bring him some money for food, but when I returned, he was gone.

When I got to the post office, they were out of change of address forms on the table, so I had to stand in line. Unlike last time, though, this line moved right along. The last time I was there, there was another guy who was getting the same thing I was, a stamped envelope. He was two places in line in front of me and he had been waiting for about 10 minutes. I asked him if he would get me an envelope, too. So when he got to the teller he did just that, and I paid him the $0.47 instead of the teller. There's got to be a better way of going about this than queueing people up. Hmm...

I'm thinking about watching one of the movies that Hannah got from NetFlix, but Hannah should be home soon, so I guess I'll wait 'till she gets home for that.

Paul sent me an email this morning about contract work. He's talking to a middle man about getting me paid WHILE I work instead of after. Yay :) It looks like I'm going to make 1,280,000 yen for 3 months of work. That works out to about $10,000. Not bad, really. I'm going to be paid half of it while I work - perhaps once every two weeks? and the rest at the end of the contract. Not a bad way to get paid, really... helps me save cash. I'd think that by the time I get finished with the contract, Hannah & I will have enough money saved up that Hannah can take a vacation and I'll support her. If I make Paul and the company he works for happy, he'll probably have more work for me to do. But I'll also probably have a few contracts with hospitals by then. Even more hopefully, they'll be paid contracts ;)

Have I mentioned my ideas about working for hospitals? I like helping people. Hospitals help people. Hospitals also need geeks. I happen to be a geek. I could probably get a grant to work for hospitals. Then I'd be doing a good thing that I enjoy and being paid for it. How cool, eh?

My computer just told me that it's time for an IRC meeting with Paul.
