The John Quincy Adams Doctrine, AKA, the Monroe Doctrine:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroe_Doctrine
http://usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/facts/democrac/50.htm

In authoring this document, James Monroe's secretary of state and foreign affairs advisor, John Quincy Adams proclaimed that the United States would stay out of the wars of other countries in support of that country's autonomy.

I believe that he was saying that if a disagreement is not resolved by those involved in the conflict, the conflict continues after it is officially proclaimed resolve by the external resolving party.

When writing this document, I think that Adams was saying that it is not the place of the U.S., (or any entity) to enforce its will on another party. Even if the U.S. thinks it stands on morally higher ground.

For this reason, I feel that Google has made a sound and just decision in allowing its content to be used by citizens of localities under those localities' rule of law. Even when that law does not line up with Google's employee's personal feelings on the subject.
