I sent mail to RMS the other day asking what he thought of MySQL's licensing scheme:

Heya Richard,

What do you think of MySQL's policy of sticking to the GPL with
distribution exceptions for "Open Source" libraries such as bsd,
x11/mit, etc?

MySQL AB recently decided to stick with GPL and these exceptions rather
than LGPL in part because of your writings on the subject.

Looking forward to your reply,

C.J.

He replied that he feels that MySQL has made a good decision in sticking with GPL + exceptions instead of using LGPL.

I don't know exactly what the policy is, but I if it is what your
words suggest it is, it is a good one.
